Monday Night Football
Philadelphia @ Tampa Bay
Team Totals: Eagles 23.5, Bucs 20.5
Losers of five of their last six and ailing on both sides of the ball, the Eagles enter Wild Card Weekend seemingly ripe to be upset. Their recent on-field failings are exacerbated by untimely Week 18 injuries to Jalen Hurts (hand) and A.J. Brown (knee); Hurts’ right (throwing) middle finger popped out of place and looked mangled against the Giants, while Brown missed most of the ensuing practice week. Worsening matters, the Bucs blitz at the NFL’s third-highest rate, and Hurts has looked lost when blitzed all season. Tampa Bay’s D/ST is firmly in play here. … D’Andre Swift’s pass-protection struggles threaten to curtail his Week 19 playing time some, while the Bucs held enemy running backs to the NFL’s third-fewest fantasy points this season. Never a quality touchdown bet due to the Tush Push, Swift has also disappeared from Philadelphia’s pass game. Swift has accrued just 17 scoreless receiving yards in his last six appearances.
The pass-funnel nature of Tampa Bay’s defense would bode well for Brown if healthy. Brown is shaping up as a game-time decision Monday night.
