Underdog’s newly released PGA best ball contests are 10-round snake drafts. They feature a weekly starting lineup of six golfers and a bench comprised of four additional golfers. This is a five-round best ball contest that features 4-6 PGA events in each round, beginning with the Waste Management Open on February 8, 2024.

At the end of the first round on March 17, the top two performing teams in each six-person pod will advance to the next round. This is an incredibly unique format that requires attention to detail in order to perform well. We highly encourage each of you to review the General Contest Information on Underdog in order to familiarize yourself with the contest details and to begin understanding the importance of structural drafting.

As is often the case in best ball formats regardless of sport, our greatest edge is often not in projecting player performance or even making the best draft picks but rather in how our lineups are structured that helps us avoid submitting dead lineups throughout the duration of the tournament. Since not every golfer will compete in every tournament throughout the course of the five-round contest, it is important to be able to field a full roster by drafting complementary golfers who may either compete in a vast majority of the events in play or in alternating events throughout the season.

For example, Scottie Scheffler is likely to compete at four of the six events listed in Round 1 but is not likely to tee it up at either the Mexico Open or the Cognizant Classic. His production will need to be replaced by someone further down the draft board who is competing in those events. Stephan Jaeger played in both the Mexico Open and the Cognizant (Honda) Classic last season and, despite not projecting to tee it up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Round 1, is a perfect complement later in the draft for teams that started with Scheffler.

Please Note: The number of tournaments listed below are from each player’s 2023 schedule, unless a player has already committed to an event for 2024 that they did not play in the previous year. For certain golfers who may have been sidelined due to injury or did not have full-time TOUR status last season and have since had their status change, some assumptions have been made about their level of 2024 involvement. While past tournament scheduling DOES NOT guarantee future attendance, we believe this provides a fair baseline for the field.

Please Note 2: These rankings, Average Draft Positions, and tournament schedules will update weekly as golfer attendance is confirmed.
