Dallas @ San Francisco
Team Totals: Cowboys 21.5, 49ers 25.5
The Cowboys return from their bye off the worst home loss of the Jerry Jones Era with HC Mike McCarthy’s job in legitimate doubt. Dak Prescott has unsurprisingly thrived on the road — the only place the roster isn’t distracted — for a 69.3% completion rate and 18.6 points per start (QB10) compared to his poor performance (58.5%, QB14) in the Death Star. Unfortunately, 80% of Dallas’ touchdowns (10) have come through the air, spelling regression for Prescott as a high-floor QB2 opposite a Niners defense ranked 10th in EPA per dropback. … Rico Dowdle peaked with 78.5% (22) of Dallas’ RB touches in Week 5 before the coaching staff reverted to rotating him drive-for-drive with Ezekiel Elliott in the first half of their blowout by the Lions. Four of Dowdle’s 10 touches in that one also discouragingly came in the fourth quarter with Cooper Rush under center, and Dalvin Cook is reportedly “in position to play” if activated before kickoff. San Francisco has quietly permitted the 10th-best success rate (43%) from the ground, giving Dowdle hope as a desperate RB3/4 out of the team’s bye if Cook remains out. Zeke has not handled double-digit carries in any game since the season opener and can be universally dropped.
