Stats and Notes:
*The Hornets are on a winning streak with back-to-back 105-102 wins against the Heat and Nets. Their offense is still broken and they’re dead last in the last month at 102.4 points per 100 possessions, and it’s not even a LaMelo Ball thing. This should be an opportunity for them to get right with the Hawks getting killed on defense over their last seven. The Hawks have been getting killed in transition and at the rim, and the Hornets have been able to get some decent rim volume in their last six games.
*LaMelo Ball has been lackluster this month with just a 20/7/7 line over 32.4 minutes per game. He’s only shooting 30.6% on drives this month, and he’ll get a tougher matchup in Dyson Daniels here. Ball did score 34 points against Daniels earlier this year and he had an eye-popping 111 touches in his last game, but there’s a lot working against him in this spot.
*Miles Bridges is on an insane heater, averaging a 33/9/4 line over his last five games. In his last three games, he’s only scored five points in transition, and it’s been a mix of off-ball and on-ball chances for him. He’s in a favorable matchup here with the Hawks lacking some wing defenders, and maybe LaMelo Ball is limited by Dyson Daniels. It should be a big night for Bridges.
*Mark Williams also gets a favorable matchup with a big size advantage on Onyeka Okongwu. Williams just took it to a brutal matchup in Miami with a 24/10/2 line in 29 minutes, and he’s had a slew of tougher matchups lately. It could be a big night for Mark.
