Value Report: Charles Schwab Challenge

Another major under our belts and there is no denying the PGA Championship delivered from a leaderboard standpoint. Scores may have been much lower than we are accustomed to when it comes to a major test, but it did still leave the best golfer all week as the much-deserved champion. Xander being chased by a polarizing Bryson and a redeemed Hovland was pure entertainment down the stretch and has me counting down the days until the U.S. Open.

From a DFS standpoint, I thought it was quite a frustrating week, as we had large positions on many among the top, but executing the right combination from the low end to get all six through to the weekend wasn’t an easy task. The fields that majors provide are an absolute dream for the way I approach GPPs, and we will be ready to take advantage when we go again at Pinehurst No. 2!

What I would deem the dream scenario for plays in the Value Report arose last week with both Chris Gotterup and David Puig appearing on the 3.9 list in our Leverage piece. Having alignment with the Body Broz on two punts who would be significantly low owned really drove up my confidence in the duo and unfortunately left a lot of lineups 4/6 or 5/6. If given the opportunity to run it back, I’d repeat the same exposure for those two though, and I look forward to the next time we are presented with that situation. Taylor Pendrith missing on the number was another gut punch, but his ownership really steamed much higher than anticipated. There was no real shot of a weekend from Jake Knapp despite a lot of scoring, and the magic returning for Phil was mere pixey dust. Tim Widing coming in below 2% was another one I was proud to be taking a significant stand on and the chips just did not fall in our favor there either.
