Including playoffs, Kansas City and Buffalo have met three times in the past two seasons, playing to high-scoring results of 32-29, 30-21, and 27-24. Patrick Mahomes enters this year’s matchup as fantasy’s overall QB1 with a near-full supporting cast on pace for career highs in carries (98), rushing yards (595), and rushing TDs (8.5) against a Bills defense that’s allowed the NFL’s second-most QB rushing yards (218). Especially with Rashee Rice back, Mahomes has become tough to quibble with as fantasy’s top quarterback play each week. … Kareem Hunt has looked out of gas in his age-30 season, but his Week 9 spot is enticing on paper. Isiah Pacheco (MCL) won’t play, and neither will Bills top DT Ed Oliver (bicep, I.R.). NT DaQuan Jones (calf) is a big question mark. Enemy backs have carved Buffalo’s run-funnel defense for a combined 152/800/9 (5.3 YPC) rushing line, while Hunt averaged 19 carries and three targets in Pacheco’s eight missed games last season. I’m in wait-and-see mode regarding the expansion of seventh-round rookie Brashard Smith’s role, while Elijah Mitchell hasn’t played an offensive snap this season. Hunt is an underrated RB2 play here.
