Mounting pressure becomes more of a thing every week in survivor pools, and it starts to truly get worse once November arrives. Given that reality, do your best not to let emotions impact your decision-making. That’s a good rule in any form of betting, but I’d say it’s the hardest to manage in survivor pools.
Below, I’ll discuss multiple games, listed from highest projected ownership to least for teams with at least 1% projected ownership. As always, I will check in via the survivor pool channel in Discord to discuss any updates I have on any matchup.
If you’re in a pool with holiday slates, like Circa, you can find those schedules at the bottom of this column.
Patriots vs. Jets (TNF)
Spread: Patriots -12.5
Total: 43.5
Ownership: 29%
Apart from the unwanted variable of playing on Thursday night, New England is a 12.5-point favorite for a reason, and the Jets have few paths to victory now that their defense has been gutted. Garrett Wilson being ruled out makes this an even tougher spot for New York to generate offense, which is still their biggest problem, even after trading their two best defenders.
Ownership-wise, I’m treating the Patriots as if roughly 60% of entries that still have them available will use them this week.
The Patriots have the better coach and a vastly better quarterback, so you could easily argue that this is the best spot left for New England in survivor this season, as their next best spots are on the road.
I’m comfortable playing New England here, even with the expectation that they will be the most popular option in most tournaments. The ugliness of Thursday Night Football is my only real concern. If I don’t use New England here, I’m looking at next week in Cincinnati or Week 17 at the Jets as the next best spots.
Best Remaining Matchups: Week 12 at CIN, Week 13 vs. NYG (MNF), Week 17 at NYJ, Week 18 at MIA
Texans at Titans
