Well, things changed in a big way at around 1:00 pm ET with Kevin Durant (Achilles) out and now the Clippers have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in there. Let’s hit what that means first.
With KD out, this obviously sets up great for Kyrie Irving and James Harden. We only have a 28-minute sample of Kyrie and Harden without KD, so we can’t read too much into it. If you want to, Kyrie has a per-36 line of 51/1/5 while Harden is 11/3/10. Joe Harris would also be in line for more shots while DeAndre Jordan, Jeff Green and Reggie Perry should be looking at more time. Kyrie could be big time if Luguentz Dort can slow down Harden a bit.
With Kawhi and PG back, that basically takes the Clippers’ values off the board. The Magic are going to drop coverage on Kawhi and PG a whole lot, so a hot PG jumper could help him get to a big night. Plus, Kawhi is just too good right now, so he should get off to a great start after missed time.
