Chicago @ San Francisco
Team Totals: 49ers 24, Bears 20.5
Having climbed from passing-game coordinator to OC to interim head coach following a series of firings, Thomas Brown leads the Bears into San Francisco to face a broken 49ers defense that got mauled for 35+ points in consecutive weeks by Green Bay and Buffalo. Almost countless critical Niners defenders are on I.R., while difference-maker EDGE Nick Bosa (oblique) is doubtful. In three starts since Brown began calling plays, Caleb Williams is a combined 75-of-117 passing (64.1%) for 827 yards (7.1 YPA) and a 5:0 TD-to-INT ratio with a 47.3 per-game rushing-yards average against the formidable defenses of Detroit, Minnesota, and Green Bay. Williams is an upside QB1 play in friendly weather out west. … D’Andre Swift (quad) missed the majority of the practice week but seems likelier than not to start against San Francisco, which Packers and Bills backs demolished for a combined 69/356/5 (5.2 YPC) rushing line in Weeks 12-13. Swift’s workload upside is enhanced by the absence of third-down/short-yardage specialist Roschon Johnson (concussion).
