The PGA Tour heads north of the border this week for the RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, with the event making its second straight visit to the North Course. This year, the pull of a pre-major start has worked in the tournament’s favor, and the field is surprisingly strong for the date, with nine of the world’s top 25 making the trip up. Ryan Fox defends after outlasting Sam Burns in a playoff last year. It should be a fun week on a course we are still getting to know.

The Course:

The North Course at TPC Toronto plays as a par 70 measuring 7,389 yards, set up with two par 5s, four par 3s, and 12 par 4s. The grass is a bent and poa mix across the greens, tees, and fairways, with the rough a thick bluegrass grown out to around 3.75 inches. We only have one year of Tour data here, so everything below carries that caveat, but the early picture is of a course that gives up a lot of birdies. In its lone Tour appearance, the North Course played to roughly 1.6 strokes under par for an adjusted field, which slots it among the 15 or so easiest venues we have data on. A good chunk of that came on the par 5s, the reachable 1st and the 581-yard 18th, which together ranked as the third-easiest set on Tour, so getting after them is close to mandatory if you want to keep pace.
