Clearly hindered by last week’s wet ball in Cleveland, Brock Purdy will face no weather complications beneath Minnesota’s U.S. Bank Stadium dome. The Vikings have yielded the NFL’s eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks and an NFC-high 75.2% completion rate, convenient for Purdy since HC Kyle Shanahan’s offense is entirely built on completing passes that give San Francisco’s stud playmakers run-after-catch chances. Purdy’s Week 7 matchup is further improved by Minnesota’s loss of EDGE Marcus Davenport (ankle, I.R.). … Christian McCaffrey (oblique/rib) sounded likelier than not to play as of Friday night. If CMC can’t go, my guess is Jordan Mason would operate as San Francisco’s slight backfield leader with Elijah Mitchell close behind and Tyrion Davis-Price a distant third. I’m still betting McCaffrey plays.
Purdy’s 2023 target distribution: Brandon Aiyuk 37; Deebo Samuel 32; CMC 27; George Kittle 25; Jauan Jennings 12. … Aiyuk is San Francisco’s primary man-beating pass catcher, while Vikings DC Brian Flores relies heavily on man-coverage looks. It helps that Minnesota has yielded an NFL-high 100 catches and the league’s fourth-most yards (1,164) to wide receivers.
