Although Jordan Love largely got back on track in last Sunday’s loss to Tampa — logging Week 15’s overall QB15 fantasy result — he did so against the Bucs’ extreme pass-funnel defense and this week will meet a resurgent Panthers unit that’s been infused by the late-season returns of young studs like CB Jaycee Horn, S Jeremy Chinn, and EDGE Yetur Gross-Matos to complement established impact players EDGE Brian Burns, LB Frankie Luvu, and DT Derrick Brown. Enemy quarterbacks are averaging an anemic 5.7 yards per pass attempt against Carolina over the last eight weeks. Minus Christian Watson (hamstring, doubtful), TE Luke Musgrave (kidney, out), and potentially Jayden Reed (toe/chest, questionable), I’m skeptical Love will build on last week’s success. … The Panthers are a run-funnel defense on paper, but the health and effectiveness of neither A.J. Dillon (thumb) nor Aaron Jones (knee, finger, hamstring) is trustworthy. Jones has cleared 70 all-purpose yards just once since Week 1. Dillon has hit paydirt once all season and is averaging a career-low 3.5 yards per carry. I slightly prefer Jones as a flex between the two.
Rookie Dontayvion Wicks is left standing as Green Bay’s most explosive, mostly healthy receiver. A fifth-round steal out of Virginia, Wicks drew a generous but exciting Davante Adams comparison from HC Matt LaFleur early in the week and this season has especially shined versus zone coverage, which the Panthers play at one of the league’s three highest rates.
