Welcome to Week 7 GPP Leverage! Last week, we considered how to handle players who separate from the other options at their positions, with Puka Nacua‘s friendly salary making him the central decision. Nacua ended up being a bust, as the Rams’ offense couldn’t put anything together against the Cardinals. Arizona didn’t even score a touchdown and still managed to win the game.
This week, I want to give a shout-out to Discord member CelebrationDuck, who suggested looking into double-TE usage for a future Leverage topic. The timing couldn’t be much better, as our initial ownership projections imply that roughly half the field will use a TE at Flex on the DraftKings main slate, in both large-field and small-field contests.
This topic was particularly intriguing because I’ve typically tried to avoid double-TE builds myself, feeling that they lack the upside I want from rostering a RB or WR in Flex. And perhaps I could either prove myself right or identify a leak in my play. Sunday also happens to be National Tight Ends Day, but I want to be clear: That’s just a coincidence, not a reason to roster an extra TE.
As we discussed on our How to Win NFL DFS Tournaments in 2026 show in early September, double-TE lineups have been plenty viable among the best tournament lineups. The tables below, originally prepared for that show, demonstrate their usage across different finish groups in the Milly and Spy contests over the past two seasons. The field used double TE somewhat more than its representation among the best lineups overall, but that wasn’t true in every season and contest category. There were plenty of successful lineups using that construction.
