I admit that I have unfortunately gotten back to my old ways. The past two weeks of this article have not been on time. Sometimes, the fall season means we fall back into our old ways once in a while. That being said, that will NOT happen again this week. Because this is your first reminder that the Baycurrent Classic will lock on WEDNESDAY at 5:45 p.m. ET. Yes, that is correct. I better get this article out there early this morning for the people! Luckily for us, we get a limited-field event here, so we cut our player decisions in half. But before we get to the Baycurrent Classic, let’s talk first about the week that was at the Sanderson Farms.
Sanderson Farms – Recap
It was NOT a successful week for me at the Sanderson Farms, despite me having 4x the field on 6/6 rate. The reason was I had almost none of Garrick Higgo, Taylor Montgomery, Vince Whaley, and other characters who ended up in the top seven. While I’ve historically been overweight on Steven Fisk, that was not enough to propel any of my lineups to the top of the smaller lotto contests they’ve been offering so far this fall season. All in all, I can live with weeks where my player pool just happens to spit out the wrong players. I was never going to be anywhere close to the field on Higgo, Whaley, or Montgomery. Higgo, in particular, is getting that recent-form ownership and price bump that you all know I hate playing. This strategy has given me great results in the past, and I certainly don’t plan on abandoning it anytime soon.
Let’s take a quick look at the winning lineup in the lottery to see if the smaller field had any impact on the characteristics of the lineup:
- It featured a pretty normal build of a lineup — 9/9/8/7/7/7 without going up into the $10K range or down into the $6Ks. At these weaker events, staying out of the $6K range tends to be a common strategy for many DFS players, as the $6Ks have traditionally been garbage in the fall season.
- The lineup had a cumulative ownership of ~78%, just inside the 60-80% threshold that we normally target for GPPs. I was wondering if this ownership number might come up a bit because we lost 6K entries to the DraftKings abyss, and we almost broke that 80% threshold. Here’s to hoping that this week is a different story.
Alright, that’s enough of the Sanderson Farms Championship. I still can’t believe that Sky flag-planted a high-owned Max Homa and got a top-10 finish out of the guy. How does this guy always know?
