Los Angeles Lakers at Charlotte Hornets (back end)

Team Totals: Lakers 119.8, Hornets 107.8

Injury Report: Anthony Davis (Q, Achilles, hip), LeBron James (Q, ankle), Hornets on a B2B

Lakers projected starters: D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Anthony Davis

Hornets projected starters: Bryce McGowens, Cody Martin, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges, Nick Richards

Ham quotes: Said they moved Prince to the bench for some scoring punch and to give them a defensive presence, said the current starting lineup is “gonna be the plan” going forward, said they were great at taking care of the ball.

Clifford quotes: Said Leaky Black is getting more confident on offense and he’s a good defender for them, said Brandon Miller has a competitive spirit and that’s something he can’t teach.

Stats and Notes:

*The Lakers are playing some of their best ball with two huge wins despite some injuries to the team. They’ve been shooting extremely well on their jumpers, and keeping their turnovers down has helped their offense lately. Obviously a matchup against the Hornets should create plenty of offensive opportunities for them, especially inside with the Hornets getting killed in the paint. The Lakers have been a huge 3-point funnel, giving up plenty of C&S treys, and their new starting lineup just doesn’t have any ball pressure. Sure, Taurean Prince will still get his minutes to guard on the ball, but the Charlotte perimeter guys are in a huge spot here.

*Anthony Davis is in the best spot here with the way centers punish the Hornets. We’ll see what the injury report looks like, and maybe this is a spot to sit a star with the Hornets being so injured and on a B2B.

*The Lakers are giving up so many off-ball 3-pointers, which is great news for Brandon Miller and P.J. Washington. The matchup for Miles Bridges isn’t great with a decent bit of Taurean Prince on him, but the role is just massive for him.

Great matchups: Anthony Davis

Good matchups: P.J. Washington, Brandon Miller, the Lakers

Bad matchups: Nick Richards
