Saints at Cowboys, 1:00 p.m. EST (return to top)
- OL vs DL: Brandon Thorn listed the Cowboys’ DL (2nd) > the Saints’ OL (28th) as the week’s second biggest mismatch. Saints’ rookie LT Taliese Fuaga and RT Trevor Penning are shaky pass protectors at best, while middling journeyman left guard Lucas Patrick is way overmatched against Osa Odighizuwa. The Cowboys’ DL ranks 17th in pass-rush win rate, first in pressure percentage, and first in QB knockdown percentage, and Micah Parsons was tied for the NFL lead in Week 1 with 11 pressures. The Dallas front has too many advantages to not include them near the top of the mismatches for Week 2.
- Cheap WRs: Jack Miller listed Rashid Shaheed ($4,600 DK, $5,500 FD) as a great play on both sites. Shaheed is the no-doubt WR2 for the Saints, and he’s a threat to house it any time he gets a target. He projects for 5.7 targets.
- GPP Leverage: Sam Brott identified Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ passing attack as interesting contrarian options in Week 2. Prescott had a mediocre outing last week on the road in Cleveland, but now he returns home to Dallas to face the Saints for a spot that he surely would have been chalk in near the end of last season.
Silva’s Matchups Takes:
- “I’m chalking up New Orleans’ near-perfect Week 1 offensive display to basement-level opponent Carolina and continuing to value Derek Carr in low-end QB2 territory.”
- “Alvin Kamara is past his prime but remains a usage machine and high-percentage necessity for New Orleans’ offense, especially in the passing game. Kamara is an easy favorite to lead all players in touches in Week 2’s Saints-Cowboys game.”
- “Chris Olave is a screaming buy-low target after pacing Saints pass catchers in Week 1 snaps (79%) and routes run (23) against the Panthers.”
- “The Saints’ purest deep threat, Rashid Shaheed nevertheless drew only five Week 1 targets and continues to profile as a boom-bust WR4/flex option.”
- “Taysom Hill’s involvement occurred almost exclusively as a rusher.”
- “Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson both scored TDs against Carolina, but I’m extremely hesitant to chase either of their results into a week where the Saints look certain to score far less.”
- “A one-dimensional pocket passer at this point, Dak Prescott doesn’t warrant QB1 fantasy treatment regardless of opponent.”
- “Brandin Cooks led all Cowboys pass catchers in Week 1 playing time (79%), routes run (30), and fantasy production (4/40/1).”
- “Saints top CB Marshon Lattimore is dealing with hamstring and hip injuries, improving matchups for both CeeDee Lamb and Cooks.”
