With Freddie Kitchens in the rearview mirror, Mayfield enters a Kevin Stefanski system that ranked top five in 2019 play-action rate; Baker’s passer rating spiked from 68.9 to 102.5 when using play action last season, and Cleveland’s yards per play leapt from 5.6 to 8.9. Mayfield’s passer rating also rose to 100.5 on 12-personnel passes, certain to be an emphasis after the Browns signed Austin Hooper and drafted Harrison Bryant. Mayfield’s pass attempts are likely to drop under Stefanski, but he can offset volume loss with efficiency gain and makes for an upside QB2.
