Passing Game Overview
Patrick Mahomes enters his seventh NFL campaign with top-four fantasy finishes in four of the last five seasons fresh off his second MVP award along with league highs in passing yards (5,250), touchdown passes (41), QBR (77.6), and TD Rate (6.3%). Very arguably the most dominant quarterback pro football has ever seen, Mahomes is a uniquely high-floor first-tier QB1 worth drafting aggressively in all formats.
Travis Kelce continued to state his case as the NFL’s best all-time tight end during a filthy 2022 campaign in which he netted the league’s sixth-most targets (152), third-most catches (110), eighth-most receiving yards (1,338), and second-most receiving TDs (12). On the season, Kelce outscored overall TE2 T.J. Hockenson by nearly 100 PPR points. Father Time remains undefeated, and Kelce turns 34 in October, yet the gap between him and the rest of the tight end field keeps Kelce locked in as a first-round pick.
Kadarius Toney needed surgery for a partially torn meniscus on July 25 after undergoing a scope on the same knee last offseason with the Giants. Afterward, Andy Reid stated “there’s a chance” Toney could be ready for Week 1 (it seems unlikely). Acquired from New York for third- and sixth-round picks last October, Toney was deployed by the Chiefs as a manufactured-touch player and punt returner down the stretch. Albeit a dynamic talent, Toney has played over 70% of his team’s offensive snaps in one career game and has largely been an enigmatic underachiever. Now rehabbing, he’s a boom-bust mid-round stab.
