Passing Game Outlook
It’s never a good sign when I have to list four QBs as potential starters. Joe Flacco is a heavy favorite to start in Week 1, but he has 15 interceptions on 452 pass attempts over the past two seasons, and he’s 40 years old on a team that is clearly rebuilding. He’s shown a Jameis Winston-esque gunslinger mentality over the past few seasons, so Flacco starting is ideal for Browns pass catchers, but it seems unlikely he holds onto the job all year. Kenny Pickett is the other veteran option here; he’s now been outcasted by both the Steelers and Eagles and seems best suited for a backup role. It’s possible he’s the second-best quarterback on this roster, but if Cleveland throws in the towel and benches Flacco, it would make more sense to try one of the rookies.
