He was a fun and inspiring story during the 2025 college football season, but don’t let that allow you to overlook the ceiling Mendoza has at the next level. His advanced statistics — particularly in non-play-action situations — compare favorably to other top QB prospects this decade. The scouts think highly of him as a passer, but he may also have some untapped rushing upside, given the model outputs for Mendoza. He is unlikely to ever be THE QB1 for fantasy, but being an elite passer with non-zero rushing production would likely provide Mendoza with a long career as a top-10 fantasy option. Mendoza’s public perception of being a high-floor, low-ceiling dynasty asset is likely to have him fall to five or further in some rookie drafts. We believe that is a situation to take advantage of.
