San Francisco @ Seattle

Team Totals: Seahawks 24.5, 49ers 22

Including playoffs, these teams have faced off five times since Mike Macdonald became Seahawks head coach in 2024. Beginning with most recent, the 49ers’ point totals in those games are 6, 3, 17, 17, and 36. Kyle Shanahan’s 2026 offense has been a juggernaut — Brock Purdy is the NFL’s lone starting quarterback still yet to be sacked — but these division rivals have faced each other often enough, and Seattle’s defense is talented enough, that I believe San Francisco’s scoring bonanza will slow to a halt here. I also believe the 49ers’ loss of FB Kyle Juszczyk (knee) will adversely affect the offense. Based on matchup, I’m downgrading Purdy into fringe QB1/2 territory. I’m also taking the Seahawks -2.5 and the under on this game’s 46.5-point total. … Christian McCaffrey’s touch counts the past two weeks are 19 and 18 on snap rates of 83% and 74%. Shanahan has fed Kaelon Black and Deebo Samuel just enough touches to keep CMC below the league’s usage leaders, but I’m betting we’ll get the near-full McCaffrey experience here considering the opponent and importance of the game. These are McCaffrey’s receiving totals in the five aforementioned meetings with Seattle: 5/39/0, 6/34/0, 9/73/0, 4/27/0, DNP. This year, the Seahawks have surrendered the NFL’s fourth-most receptions (23) to enemy running backs.
