Black Friday Sale is LIVE!

Now that the season has begun, there are a few important factors to consider when considering any type of awards bet. We want to identify games with major MVP or other award considerations (such as Ravens vs Chiefs in Week 3), we want to identify soft stretches in the schedule, we want to find value through shopping at different sports books, and in the case of Rookie of the Year awards we want to identify role expansion for relevant candidates. Those factors will be the focus of this week’s column. In-season Coach of the Year award odds are not currently posted on any of the widely available sportsbooks I use for this column.

The MVP Race

The MVP race has a lot of candidates early and it starts to narrow as the season progresses.

Patrick Mahomes (+400 MGM) at Lamar Jackson (+650 MGM), Week 3: The Chiefs head to the Chargers in Week 2, while the Ravens head to Houston. After that, they square off with each other on Monday Night Football in Baltimore in what is almost certainly the most compelling regular-season matchup of the season. If both teams enter that contest 2-0, the winner almost certainly heads to the front of the MVP race, where the award then becomes theirs to lose.
