Underdog’s Battle Royale format is a hybrid of DFS and snake drafts. Drafts are six rounds (snake style) and conducted in leagues of six. Scoring is half-PPR and rosters are QB, RB, WR, WR, FLEX, and TE.
Some strategy thoughts:
1. This is a large-field tournament with 10% of the prize pool going to first place and 0.2% going to 11th place. We should be drafting with a “first or last” mentality.
2. Stacking is an absolute must. Just like in large-field DFS tournaments, the correlation we gain from pairing our QB with at least one (and often two) of his pass catchers is what catapults us to the top.
3. We want to consider at least one contrarian play. Since the drafts are only 36 picks deep, players ranked deeper often won’t be drafted in many leagues. If they go off, and no one else even has them, it’s a massive leg up on the field.
As you are drafting, there is substantial value to taking players that are drafted on fewer teams. Our simulation data (see below) gives you leverage on the field in the times that player goes off. Because these drafts are not that deep, you usually do not need to scroll down too far to still find quality, high upside options. Any ADP above 35 will get you some leverage, above 35.5 and you’re getting quite unique.

Our Battle Royale Rankings for 2024 are based on the following inputs:
– Odds player is in the optimal lineup
– Projected points above replacement player
– ADP
SIMULATION COLUMNS
– Please note our simulations and ceiling projections right now are based on FanDuel scoring, which used to match Underdog scoring. However, FanDuel added bonuses this year. We’ll get the simulations operating without the bonuses as soon as possible. Our simulations do not take into consideration ADP, but we still believe this information to be valuable. In addition to showing the odds a player is in the optimal lineup, we are also showing two more columns:
– Odds player is in the optimal lineup IF their QB is optimal
– Odds player is in the optimal lineup IF the opposing QB is optimal
– Odds player finishes Top 5 at their position
This should help you to tweak the rankings as you add players to your roster.
Injury Assumptions: We are making our best guesses on injuries, and the rankings, projections, and simulations all flow through from that guess. So, if we project a questionable player to be IN, everything follows from that assumption. It’s up to you as a drafter to decide if you want to take that risk and draft this player where we have them ranked or to potentially boost this player’s teammates who may benefit if the player ends up OUT.
