Carolina @ Detroit
Team Totals: Lions 27, Panthers 18
The Panthers visit Ford Field having eked out point totals of 10, 17, and 13 in Bryce Young’s starts, while the Lions look fresh off their mini-bye following Week 4’s Thursday night win over Green Bay. Detroit’s D/ST is an exciting bet here. Only five NFL defenses have registered more sacks (13). … Miles Sanders and Chuba Hubbard shared time near evenly in last Sunday’s loss; they each handled 16 touches, but Hubbard out-snapped Sanders 38 to 32 and was more involved in the second half against Minnesota. The Lions have stymied enemy backs to the tune of 63/181/2 (2.9 YPC) rushing through four games. I’m treating Sanders as a touchdown-reliant flex play and Hubbard as a season-long bench stash this week.
Young’s 2023 target distribution: Adam Thielen 19; Terrace Marshall 16; Sanders 14; Jonathan Mingo and Hayden Hurst 13; Hubbard 9; D.J. Chark 4; Laviska Shenault 3. … On throws from Young, Thielen is Carolina’s team leader in catches (16), yards (142), and first-down conversions (9). Thielen has collected 31 targets over the past three weeks.
