There’s been a lot of changes in NFL awards markets over the past week. Let’s jump right in.
Value Options
OPOY: Chris Godwin (+2800 to +5000 DraftKings)
Godwin leads the league in receptions (43), he’s third in receiving yards (511), and he’s tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns (5) for the 4-2 Buccaneers. We’re now a third of the way through the regular season, and Godwin is neck-and-neck with Ja’Marr Chase and Nico Collins (on I.R.) as the most productive wide receivers in the league.
It wouldn’t be a major surprise if this run ends up being the peak of Godwin’s 2024 campaign, but he has no business being available at +5000 at this stage.
DPOY: Nick Bosa (+600 to +1800 FanDuel, ESPNBET)
I’ll take an extensive look at the DPOY race at the bottom of this article, as Aidan Hutchinson’s injury transformed this race. Until then, Bosa only has 3.0 sacks, which is 4.5 behind the leader, Hutchinson. However, Bosa is a brand name that’s capable of leading the league in sacks, who is on a contending team, and gets one of the higher-interest matchups of the year this week in 49ers vs. Chiefs.
DPOY: Kyle Van Noy (+2500 to +10000 FanDuel)
Van Noy has 6.0 sacks, which is just 1.5 off the lead, for the contending Ravens. It’s hard to see Van Noy leading the league in sacks, but given where he is through a third of the season while playing for a contender, you can get him at a massive value on FanDuel. Van Noy is not currently listed on BetMGM or ESPNBet. So if you decide to do this, check those spots first.
MVP Notes
Brock Purdy (+1000 to +1400 DraftKings)
Purdy may have been last year’s MVP if not for his late-season meltdown game against the Ravens in primetime. Still, Purdy has proven capable of MVP-caliber production and if anyone is capable of a massive surge, it’s the 3-3 49ers.
Purdy is off the pace through six weeks, but he’s a big-game jump away in the categories that matter in the MVP race. What’s more important is that San Francisco is coming off a long week to host the Chiefs this week in the 4:00 p.m. national Game of the Week. If the 49ers win that game behind a strong effort from Purdy, he’ll be +700 or worse early next week.
Baker Mayfield (+2200 to +3000 BetMGM, DraftKings, Caesars)
Mayfield leads the league in passing touchdowns (15) and he’s second in rating, which are important categories in the MVP race. I have my doubts that Mayfield keeps up this level of production or that Tampa finishes the year as the NFC’s best team, but +3
