The Chiefs come off Week 6’s bye — HC Andy Reid’s career post-bye record is 21-4 — to face a 49ers team with whom Patrick Mahomes has squared off three times (including playoffs) over the past five seasons. All told, Mahomes went 85-of-122 passing (69.7%) for 1,042 yards (8.5 YPA), a 7:4 TD-to-INT ratio, and rushing lines of 9/66/0, 9/29/1, and 0/0 in those three affairs. Supporting-cast depletion has curbed Mahomes’ 2024 production, but I’m sticking with him here as a surefire QB1. … Kareem Hunt has distanced himself from role player Samaje Perine and fumbling rookie Carson Steele since rejoining the Chiefs two games ago, most recently turning 28 touches into 117 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City’s Week 5 win over New Orleans. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been activated from the reserve/NFI list but isn’t assured of any amount of usage. San Francisco presents a neutral run-defense matchup, yet Hunt has earned RB2 treatment at worst. Isiah Pacheco (broken fibula, I.R.) is ineligible to return before Week 8 and likely won’t be back until November.
