The playoffs open this week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, with the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings and no cut. Daniel Berger qualified and is not playing, so it is 69 men for a $20 million purse, and only the top 50 move on to the BMW at Bellerive next week. Justin Rose defends after coming from behind to beat J.J. Spaun in a playoff a year ago at -16.

The Course:

TPC Southwind is a par 70 listed around 7,290 yards with Bermuda from tee to green. The Tour has played in this city every year since 1958, but the event has worn several names over the years: The St. Jude Classic and then a World Golf Championship before the playoffs took it over, and it has been a harder test than the average TPC through all of them.

Southwind plays a shade over par for an adjusted field, which is modestly harder than an average Tour venue, and makes it the first course since The Open where the winning score is likely going to come in worse than 20 under par.
