Passing Game Outlook
Gary Kubiak’s eldest son and new Raiders HC Klint Kubiak deserves our attention, opening the 2024 season with consecutive 40-point fireworks (before New Orleans’ trenches were derailed) and, most recently, carrying Sam Darnold to a career-best 8.5 yards per attempt for Seattle’s Super Bowl-winning attack. Fernando Mendoza, the No. 1 overall pick, will almost certainly open the season as Kirk Cousins’ backup — but like the rookie outlooks for Drake Maye and Jaxson Dart before him, he’s worth drafting as a QB3 in Superflex and best ball leagues. Every first quarterback selected in a draft class since 2017 has gone on to make at least 10 starts, and Mendoza brings prototypical size (6-foot-5, 236 pounds) and mobility to the position.
