Passing Game Outlook
In a roundabout return to the Jets for Geno Smith, who was drafted 39th overall by New York in 2013 and last played here in 2016, the supporting cast looks quite promising on paper. Smith is looking to erase a horrid 2025 season in which he led the NFL in sacks taken and interceptions thrown while commanding the league’s lowest-scoring offense. Playing behind Brandon Thorn’s 18th-ranked offensive line and alongside multiple first-round pass catchers on top of Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, it’s fair to have optimism that Geno can regain his form from the Seahawks days. Smith isn’t a target for us in single-QB fantasy leagues and could certainly be benched at some point this season if he’s unable to rebound. Still, he could provide some usable weeks early in the season given his supporting cast of weaponry.
The clear headliner of this WR room is Garrett Wilson. Wilson was on pace for his fourth consecutive 147+ target season before a knee injury limited him to just seven games played. Wilson had logged 17 games in each of his first three seasons, hopefully quelling any concerns about him being injury-prone. An every-down player who has produced WR2 fantasy seasons despite poor quarterback play in his career once again projects as a fantasy target in Rounds 3/4 of drafts. There’s a very real chance 36-year-old Geno Smith is a legitimate upgrade for Wilson this season, and he can become more efficient on his expected large target volume.
