The NFL schedule release is one of my favorite opportunities of the season, because few have an off-the-top-of-their-head grasp of who each NFL team is like I do. As such, I’ll discuss several situations that stood out in the wake of Thursday’s NFL schedule release.
The Chargers are among the most interesting teams in the league this season, to the point Justin Herbert’s +1100 current MVP odds don’t do much for me, but I get why he’s among the favorites. That said, the Chargers open with home games against the Cardinals and Raiders, so there is a pretty good chance that Herbert is in the +500 range heading into Week 3’s trip to Buffalo. That early schedule is also very appealing for Omarion Hampton (+4000 to +5500 FanDuel) in the Offensive Player of the Year market.
If you’re looking for a longer shot in the MVP market, Jared Goff is available at +4000 on BetMGM and FanDuel. From a pure production standpoint, Goff is in the MVP mix most years, and Detroit gets an appealing start: vs. NO, at BUF (TNF), vs. NYJ, at CAR, and at ARI. If the Lions head into their Week 6 bye with a 4-1 record, it won’t be a surprise.
