Passing Game Outlook
Former OC Klint Kubiak maximized Sam Darnold’s strengths en route to winning the Super Bowl, with the latter producing a career-best 8.5 yards per attempt (second) and 11.2 YPA from play-action (second). Odds are Seattle’s offense stays the same under OC Brian Fleury, who previously coached on the same roster as Darnold in 2023, but that line of logical thinking is what went wrong in Detroit (before OC John Morton was relieved of his duties), Philadelphia (with Kevin Patullo dragging an entire offense to hell), and Houston (where Nick Caley learned nothing from Sean McVay). Having finished as fantasy’s QB28 in points per game with uber-efficiency, Darnold’s ceiling is capped as a QB3 streamer.
A third-round pick last summer, Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s breakout campaign led to league-high marks in target share (32.6%), Yards Per Route Run (3.8), and share of his team’s Air Yards (49.1%), trailing only Puka Nacua (23.4) in weekly points (21.2). There’s admittedly some concern this offense fails to reach its peak without Kubiak, but there’s no need to overthink JSN’s floor: He remains in the first tier of players who should be drafted with a top-five pick, including in standard leagues, where we’ve projected his yards per target ahead of both Ja’Marr Chase and Puka’s.
