The Shy Away List is a tough one to handle in fantasy hoops. The prices are just so far off, and price is really the whole story. I’ll just focus on the blend ADP from Hashtag Basketball; most of the guys on this list are somewhat fades across the board. Let’s get to it on guys I’m unlikely to draft at/near cost. I’ll add in the Top-150 rank and our nine-cat ranks to help account for the price gap (as of Oct. 12).
Kevin Durant (ADP: 17.8; Top 150: 23; ETR: 23) – He was second in the NBA in total minutes, and the Rockets have more depth this year. KD also didn’t handle as much in his lone preseason game, and he just turned 38 a couple of weeks ago. With the way the Rockets just ran out of gas last year, it’s tough to make a case to play him over 36 MPG again. He’s just too expensive.
Jalen Brunson (ADP: 21.9; T150: 30; ETR: 36) – Brunson is always ranked too high on the platforms. He’s barely been a top-50 player per game in the last two seasons, and it makes no sense to pay for him at the 2-3 turn. Brunson should also lose some of his handling to Karl-Anthony Towns, and he took a hit to his FTr last year. He’ll likely be just fine, but it’s just a round too high to take him.
