What to Know About the NFL Schedule

The NFL schedule is out! For fantasy purposes, so much can happen between now and the season that it’s important not to overweight a team’s schedule, but at the same time, the importance of game-stacking Week 17 in best ball is well documented by now. Plus, being cognizant of a team’s schedule early and late in the season can help you craft a roster that flows together to maximize your expected value. Let’s dig into some quick notes on the 2026 schedule.

Note that we will have longer-form, more quantitative-based analysis once sportsbooks post an opening spread and total for each game. This is merely meant as a series of quick hitters for fantasy players drafting already.

NOTABLE PLAYOFF SCHEDULES

• The Vikings have a desirable playoff schedule with home games against Detroit and Washington in Weeks 15 and 16 before a trip to face the Jets in Week 17. A late-season game outdoors in New Jersey presents weather concerns, but Minnesota should win that game on paper, and they get two games with shootout upside before the New York trip. Assuming Kyler Murray wins the starting job, this Vikings offense should be significantly improved in 2026. Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison have a rosy playoff outlook, and whoever emerges between Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason (or even late-round rookie Demond Claiborne) benefits, too.
• The Jaguars have a difficult matchup on the road against a fierce Houston defense in Week 15. If you make it through the first round of the fantasy playoffs with any Jacksonville players, however, you get rewarded with soft matchups at Dallas and at home vs. Washington — weather shouldn’t be a factor in either game.
• Like the Jaguars, you’ll have to survive Week 15 against Cleveland if you roster any Giants, but the schedule lightens up for the fantasy season’s final two games with a Week 16 bout at Detroit and a Week 17 contest at Dallas, both domed matchups in potential high-scoring affairs. Malik Nabers‘ injury recovery timeline is a major question mark, but he should be fully healed by the end of December, and he will have a sky-high ceiling in those final two outings if he’s back to 100%.
• The Rams have two plus matchups vs. Dallas and on the road in Tampa Bay in Weeks 15 and 17, respectively, but sandwiched in between them is a road trip to Seattle. If you have Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, Matthew Stafford, or Kyren Williams, you’re starting them regardless of matchup if they’re healthy, but that’s pretty much as bad as it gets in Week 16. Still, if Rams fantasy managers can work their way around that game, Weeks 15 and 17 look quite lucrative.
