Colts Passing Game
Philip Rivers set aside a decade and a half of Chargers underachievement to make one last run at it all, signing a one-year, $25 million deal with the Colts. Rivers’ transition will be smoothed by his ties to HC Frank Reich and OC Nick Sirianni, who both spent time with him in San Diego. In Indianapolis, Rivers will play with the best running game and offensive line of his career. The Colts project as a balanced to run-first team, however, and Rivers showed signs of 2019 decline with a 12-year low in passer rating (88.5) and seven-year low in adjusted yards per attempt (7.1). On tape, 38-year-old Rivers wrote too many checks his arm could no longer cash. Job security keeps Rivers’ QB2 stock afloat, but his ceiling is low.
