Passing Game Overview
Jimmy Garoppolo, turning 32 in November, replaces Derek Carr behind center on a three-year, $72.75 million deal with the first two seasons guaranteed. Second-year HC Josh McDaniels has an obvious affection for players he coached in New England; Garoppolo qualifies after the duo spent four seasons together with the 2014-2017 Patriots. A statue in the pocket playing behind a bottom-tier offensive line, Jimmy G’s fantasy appeal remains minor beyond best ball and deep-league stacks with Davante Adams.
Davante Adams enters his age-30/31 season coming off NFL highs in target share (31%) and touchdown catches (14) on a career-high 180 targets. Adams ranked No. 8 among wide receivers in yards per route run (2.59), dispelling any lingering age concerns. Still more of a boom-bust producer than he was with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, Adams banked eight 100-plus-yard efforts but finished below 50 yards five times in his Raiders debut. Although his on-field chemistry with Garoppolo remains to be established, Adams should continue to draw near-league-high target totals, keeping him on the first-/second-round fringe.
Jakobi Meyers inked a three-year, $33 million deal with the Raiders to fuel the notion that McDaniels is obsessed with cronyism; Meyers and McDaniels spent 2019-2021 together in New England. Allergic to the end zone during his first three seasons in the league, Meyers hit paydirt six times in 2022 after doing so on just two occasions across his initial 48 career games. Meyers can be a solid-floor WR4 type but has never demonstrated any kind of box-score ceiling.
