L.A. Chargers @ Atlanta
Team Totals: Chargers 25.5, Falcons 23
The probable absence of feature back J.K. Dobbins on a short week following last Monday night’s knee injury should encourage OC Greg Roman to hike the Chargers’ Week 13 pass rate inside Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz dome. Sunday’s matchup certainly works in Justin Herbert’s favor; the Falcons have allowed the NFL’s highest completion rate (71.6%) and seventh-highest QB rating (101.2) while ranking dead last in sacks (10). This is a potential breakthrough spot for Herbert, who’s been playing career-best football all season. … I’m expecting the Chargers to rely on a hot-hand approach involving Gus Edwards as the tentative lead back, Kimani Vidal as the most explosive and best passing-game option, and Hassan Haskins as the plodding short-yardage type. A pass-funnel team defensively, Atlanta has held enemy running backs to the NFL’s eighth-fewest fantasy points. Even with Dobbins likely sidelined, I’m not especially interested in any leftover Chargers back.
