Washington @ New England
Team Totals: Patriots 22, Commanders 19
I took the over on Pats-Commanders after Washington dealt bookend pass rushers Montez Sweat (Bears) and Chase Young (49ers) ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, further depleting a Swiss-cheese pass defense that’s gotten zilch from first-round CB Emmanuel Forbes while yielding the NFL’s second-most fantasy quarterback points. This is a rare opportunity for a quality game from Mac Jones, who should face squeaky-clean pockets and have ample opportunities for big gains against one of the league’s worst secondaries. … Rhamondre Stevenson only narrowly out-snapped Ezekiel Elliott (31 to 22) in Week 8’s loss to Miami, finishing with 12 touches compared to Zeke’s 7. Stevenson hasn’t exceeded 15 touches in a game since Week 4. Nothing about Stevenson’s Week 8 matchup or workload projection stands out enough to value him above RB2 territory. Elliott is an unsafe-floor, touchdown-dependent flex option.
Jones’ 2023 targets sans Kendrick Bourne (ACL) and DeVante Parker (concussion): Stevenson 34; Hunter Henry 32; Pop Douglas 29; JuJu Smith-Schuster 24; Mike Gesicki 22; Elliott 16. … Henry has drawn three targets or fewer in four straight games while falling into a three-way TEBC involving Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown. … Sixth-round rookie Douglas has a chance to emerge as the Patriots’ No. 1 wideout the rest of the way.
