Dallas @ Philadelphia
Team Totals: Eagles 25, Cowboys 22
His outlook boosted by HC Mike McCarthy’s elevated pass-play propensity, Dak Prescott now draws an Eagles defense that’s forced enemy offenses to throw at the league’s highest rate over expectation. In Week 8’s win over the Rams, Dak banked season highs in passing yards (304), TDs (4), QB Rating (133.7), and yards per pass attempt (9.8). As Philly has surrendered the NFL’s seventh-most fantasy quarterback points, I’m willing to trust Prescott as a QB1 here. … McCarthy’s insistence on jamming Tony Pollard up the gut rather than featuring him on in-space plays has taken away from Pollard’s strengths. The good news is Dallas is expecting LT Tyron Smith (neck) back this week and made no deadline moves to bolster its backfield, ensuring Pollard will stay atop the depth chart the rest of the way. Pollard’s 2023 efficiency has fallen well short of expectations, yet he is still averaging 19.1 touches per game on a career-high 69% playing-time rate. I’m buying Pollard with his bye out of the way ahead of Week 9’s potential shootout.
Prescott’s 2023 targets: CeeDee Lamb 56; Michael Gallup 34; Jake Ferguson 33; Pollard 30; Brandin Cooks 27. … Over his last two games, Lamb has parlayed 19 catches into 275 yards and two TDs with 11 grabs of 15+ yards.
