Especially with Jared Goff struggling, Week 13’s Superdome visit offers an opportunity for Detroit’s run game to hum. Highlighted by Falcons RBs pouring 236 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on the Saints last week, New Orleans’ defense has been devoured by enemy rushing attacks lately and risks facing the Lions without DT Cam Jordan (ankle) and LB Pete Werner (shoulder/oblique). I’m locking in both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs as low-end RB1 starters. In a game I expect the Lions to win, my slight lean is toward Montgomery if forced to choose between the two. (Gibbs tends to play more when Detroit is trailing.) … Goff’s recent struggles have occurred largely due to Detroit’s slumping pass protection, but the Lions are now rested off a mini-bye, while New Orleans ranks second to last in the league in sacks (18). The Saints are also missing top CB Marshon Lattimore (high ankle, I.R.), and the absences of Jordan, Werner, and FS Marcus Maye (shoulder) would further improve Goff’s matchup.
Matchups essentially don’t matter for Amon-Ra St. Brown due to Lions OC Ben Johnson’s propensity for feeding him layups. Thanksgiving marked ARSB’s lowest-scoring fantasy game of the year, even as he banked 9/95/0 receiving on 11 targets against the Packers.
