New England @ N.Y. Jets
Team Totals: Patriots 21, Jets 19.5
After strangely giving up on him after three possessions in last Monday night’s shocking blowout loss to Chicago, the Patriots are expected to turn back to Mac Jones against the Jets. Unfortunately for his two-QB-league outlook, Jones remains at risk of being benched for Bailey Zappe, while Gang Green’s upstart defense has allowed the NFL’s sixth-fewest yards per pass attempt (6.0). … Rhamondre Stevenson is the Pats’ lone confident Week 8 fantasy starter after out-touching Damien Harris 19 to 4 and out-snapping him 40 to 9 last Monday night. The Jets have played above-average run defense — holding enemy backs to 4.0 yards per carry and the NFL’s 12th-fewest fantasy points — but Stevenson is being utilized as a true every-down back, solidifying his upside RB2 valuation. Harris is just an RB3/4 bench stash at this point. … On 2022 throws from Jones, Jakobi Meyers leads the Pats in targets (19), catches (13), and first-down conversions (6). A nearly 50% slot receiver, Meyers is also likely to avoid Jets rookie shutdown CB Sauce Gardner on the vast majority of his snaps and is a playable WR3 in full-PPR leagues here.
