Among Week 1’s biggest surprises was rookie preseason phenom Dameon Pierce’s light usage against the Colts; 32-year-old Rex Burkhead out-snapped Pierce 48 to 20 and out-touched him 19 to 12. HC Lovie Smith said afterward the Texans planned for Pierce to play more, but fantasy leaguers should be in see-it, believe-it mode regarding Pierce’s flex viability. I’m fully fading this backfield in Week 2 lineup decisions. Still, Burkhead should be added in all competitive season-long leagues as the back the Texans’ coaching staff clearly trusts. … Through 14 NFL appearances (12 starts), Davis Mills has never rushed for more than 12 yards and therefore needs to light up the box score as a passer to make a fantasy impact. Nothing about Week 2’s trip to Denver suggests Mills is likely to deliver relevant aerial production.
