Welcome back for the fifth NFL GPP Leverage column of the season. If you missed the Week 1 edition of GPP Leverage, I recommend you take a minute to read the intro to get a feel for the goals of this column.

For the first four weeks of the season, each edition of Leverage generally focused on a specific theme. In Week 1, we focused on uncertainty; in Week 2, we focused on onslaughts; and in Weeks 3 and 4, we focused on late swap. Although having a specific theme makes for a nice, tidy article, I think there are numerous angles from which to attack the Week 5 main slate. This week, we’ll touch on all three of the main topics we’ve covered so far as we consider how we can gain leverage against our opponents.

Late Swap

  • There are four games in the late window this week: Titans at Cardinals, Buccaneers at Seahawks, Lions at Bengals, and Commanders at Chargers.
  • Most slates with late-swap considerations have reasonable pivot games in the late window that are expected to attract minimal ownership. The tricky aspect of the Week 5 main slate is that all four of the late-window games will likely garner ownership, leaving us with few directions to pivot away from the chalk if our lineups get off to poor starts in the early window of games.
  • The Commanders-Chargers matchup is the game I expect to attract the most ownership from the late window, and I expect all of the primary contributors on both offenses to carry notable ownership. As a result, I only want to play game stacks from this matchup if I’ve gotten off to a reasonably good start in the early window.
