Houston gets a facelift this season, rebranding from the Roughnecks to something a little more on-brand for us degenerates — the Gamblers. UFL DFS players may be even happier to learn that long-time fantasy nemesis Curtis Johnson is no longer at the helm, replaced by Kevin Sumlin, who served as the Gamblers’ head man in 2022 before taking a job as an assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator with the Maryland Terrapins from 2023-24 — more on that shortly. OC Eric Price was retained and will serve in that role again in 2026. Houston’s offense struggled under Price last season, ranking sixth in YPA (5.9), YPP (4.9), and points per game (18.3) on 55.3 plays per game. But they did show a willingness to air it out, dictated at least in part by game script, dropping back on a league-high 64.0% of their offensive snaps. After finishing 5-5 last season, Houston is a strong candidate to continue on an upward trajectory with a new HC and improved QB play.
