Jump to Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, Tight End positions.

Head Coach

HC Marc Trestman
Been coaching offense in NFL or CFL since 1985. 2-time CFL Coach of Year and 3-time Grey Cup Champion. Raiders OC in 2002 when Rich Gannon won MVP.

Offensive Coordinator

OC Jaime Elizondo
Former OC of Ottawa Redblacks in CFL. Left to join Trestman in Tampa.

Quarterback

QB1 Taylor Cornelius
Selected 9th round, 69th overall in XFL Draft. Received very little NFL interest outside of rookie camp invite from the Packers. Has easily been Tampa’s best QB, scoring at least 21 DK points in three straight games.
QB2 Aaron Murray
Four-year starter at Georgia from 2010-13, throwing for 13,166 yards and 121 TDs. Couldn’t beat out Matt Simms for starting job in AAF last year and then struggled in four late-year starts. Week 1 XFL start was as disaster as Murray was so bad he rotated in the second half with Quentin Flowers. Now firmly behind Taylor Cornelius.
QB3 Quinton Flowers
Athletic dual-threat QB ran for 3.672 yards plus 41 TDs over final three seasons at South Florida. Also threw for 71 TDs. Was 2016 AAC Offensive Player of the Year. Played 20 QB snaps with Aaron Murray (ankle) out in Week 2 and played 20 QB snaps again in Week 3. Left team in Week 4, returned in Week 5 to steal a few short-yardage snaps.

Running Back

RB1 De’Veon Smith
Selected 3rd round, 21st overall in XFL Draft. The 5’11/223 former Michigan Wolverine averaged a solid 4.6 YPC and scored six TDs in eight games for AAF’s best Orlando Apollos last spring. Operating as the 1A in Tampa’s 2-man committee. Smith has at least 17 touches in three straight games. Limited in practice (foot) on Wednesday for Week 6.
RB2 Jacques Patrick
6’2/234 Florida State product wasn’t selected in top-80 picks at XFL Draft. Running as the 1B behind De’Veon Smith, but Tampa’s high play count has led to useful volume. Patrick injured his back in Week 5 and was removed from the game without returning. He was listed DNP in practice on Tuesday or Wednesday for Week 6.
RB3 Tarean Folston
Re-signed with the Vipers on March 4th. Expected to be the 1B behind De’Veon Smith if Jacques Patrick (back) can’t go in Week 6.
RB4 Brandon Wilds
Added with roster expansions on March 9th.

Wide Receiver

WR1 Dan Williams
Never played in a regular-season NFL game, but has been in four different camps. Also shined down the stretch in AAF last spring. One of the best usage plus talent roles in the XFL. Williams has been in on 88% of the snaps this season and seen 22.9% of Tampa’s targets.
WR2 Jalen Tolliver
Selected 4th round, 28th overall in XFL Draft. Borderline NFL prospect at 6’3/213. Similar role to Dan Williams as Tolliver has played 90% of the snaps and seen 21.7% of Tampa’s targets.
WR3 Reece Horn
Selected 8th round, 60th overall in XFL Draft. Was Memphis Express’ No. 1 WR last spring, recording the 4th-most receiving yards in the entire league. Locked in as primary slot man, has strong 21.7% target share on season. Handles some kick return duties.
WR4 Tanner McEvoy
Undrafted out of South Carolina in 2016. Not among top-80 picks in XFL Draft. Only played six offensive snaps in Week 5.
WR5/KR Ryan Davis
Not among top-80 picks in XFL Draft. Was inactive Week 1 and 2. Presumably the direct backup to Reece Horn. Primary kick returner for TB.
WR6 SJ Green
Traded from Dragons to Vipers on February 18th. Green is a 34-year-old CFL legend, catching 716 balls for 10,222 yards and 60 TDs north of the border. Made XFL debut in Week 4, logging 10 snaps. Got six snaps in Week 5.
WR7 Seantavius Jones
Has bounced on and off roster. Played zero snaps in Week 5.
WR8 Jake Lampman
Added with roster expansions on March 9th.
WR9

 Tight End

TE1 Nick Truesdell
Selected 1st round, 5th overall in XFL Draft. Caught 80 balls in the Arena League in 2015. Was easily AAF’s best TE last spring, going 24-269-3 games. In first game for Vipers, Truesdell played on 69-of-72 snaps and ran 29 routes (well behind Dan Williams’ 42 routes). Battled a knee injury and then picked up a shoulder injury in Week 5. Averaging 5.0 targets per game in his three healthy ones. Limited in practice (shoulder) on Tuesday, upgraded to full on Wednesday for Week 6.
TE2 DeAndre Goolsby
Not among top-80 picks in XFL Draft. With Nick Truesdell (knee) out in Weeks 3 and 4, Goolsby recorded 4-65-1 on six targets.
TE3 Colin Thompson
Not among top-80 picks in XFL Draft.
TE4 Pharaoh McKever
Signed February 6th.
