I began the week pegging Eagles-Bucs as a potential shootout but soured on that notion as the weather forecast crystallized. The total has dropped at least three points since it opened, and Philly’s side risks being most disadvantaged as a run-heavy team already unlikely to experience rushing success against Tampa’s impenetrable run defense and therefore more reliant on the pass. 20-to-30 MPH winds and thunderstorms bode poorly for Jalen Hurts doing extensive air-game damage. The 2021 Bucs did allow the NFL’s fourth-most QB rushing yards (399), but I fear the Eagles doing whatever they can to slow this game to a near halt, cutting down on plays. A bankable week-to-week producer throughout the year, I’m approaching Hurts as a high-volatility DFS start based on this game’s free-falling total and potentially detrimental environment.
