Passing Game Overview
In their first year on the job, HC Brian Daboll and OC Mike Kafka helped fix Daniel Jones’ turnover issues and coaxed a career year out of 2019’s No. 6 overall pick. Jones’ 1.1% interception rate was lowest in the league, while he lost just three fumbles after losing 20 over his first three seasons. Jones’ 67.2% completion rate, 6.8 yards per pass attempt, and 92.5 QB Rating were all new personal bests. Daboll also played to Jones’ strengths as a runner; after averaging 4.5 carries per game from 2019-2021, “Danny Dimes” averaged 7.5 carries in 2022 and finished with a 120/708/7 rushing line. Only four quarterbacks ran for more yards. It all landed Jones a four-year, $160 million payday. The Giants made it a point to give Jones more weapons, notably adding TE Darren Waller, WR Parris Campbell, and WR Jalin Hyatt.
