The ETR projections team — Michael Leone, Mark Dankenbring, and myself — are drafting a $2,000 buy-in FFPC Main Event team. In this article, we’ll be live-blogging the draft with audio clips detailing our thought process on each pick. We also recorded an intro audio blurb explaining our strategy going into this draft and what we are hoping to accomplish.
Now, let’s get to the picks.
ROUND 1, PICK 6: AUSTIN EKELER (LAC)
Entering the draft, we had a tier of seven players we were fine drafting in Round 1 (in no particular order): Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Christian McCaffrey, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Austin Ekeler, and Cooper Kupp. Chase, Kelce, Jefferson, Kupp, McCaffrey, and Hill were the first six picks off the board, leaving Ekeler for us at 1.07. This enables us to build a Hero RB team centered around a running back who finished as the RB1 in 2022 and RB2 in 2021. It’s also nice to get an RB here because we weren’t sure if Nick Chubb, Tony Pollard, or Saquon Barkley would get back to us in Round 2.
ROUND 2, PICK 7: MARK ANDREWS (BAL)
