Miami @ New England
Team Totals: Patriots 23, Dolphins 20
Fins-Pats sets up as a points-scoring struggle with Week 1’s second-lowest total, inexperienced QB play on both sides, and head coaches who’ve spent enough time together to realize each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies. In last year’s two meetings, Miami and New England played to paltry 22-12 and 21-11 results. Although I remain optimistic about Tua Tagovailoa taking a step forward this year, I’m benching him even in two-quarterback leagues at Foxboro after the Dolphins’ offensive line struggled all preseason. Missing Will Fuller (suspension) can’t help. … That Miami front five is sure to have trouble clearing running lanes against New England’s beefy defensive line featuring DEs Deatrich Wise (6’5/274) and Henry Anderson (6’6/294) with space eaters Lawrence Guy (6’4/315), Davon Godchaux (6’3/310), and Christian Barmore (6’4/310) up the gut.
