I bet the under on Rams-Bucs at 48.5 points in large part due to critical offensive line injuries on both sides. For L.A., LT Andrew Whitworth experienced swelling in his knee and ankle during the week after exiting on the first snap of last Monday night’s win over Arizona, then ineffectively returning. Bucs RE Shaq Barrett (10.0 sacks) most often aligns opposite Whitworth. Whitworth’s absence or lack of effectiveness would be particularly detrimental should Tampa Bay’s run defense perform at its peak, rendering Los Angeles’ offense disproportionately dependent on a passing attack shorthanded on its quarterback’s blindside. When these clubs met in Week 3, Matthew Stafford did wax Bucs DC Todd Bowles’ defense for 9.03 yards per attempt, four TDs, and zero turnovers in Los Angeles’ 34-24 win. And Stafford’s pass volume is virtually certain to elevate; the Bucs faced a league-high 680 pass attempts in 2021. … Stunningly but deservedly, Cam Akers reemerged as the Rams’ main back in Week 19’s victory, out-snapping Sony Michel 32 to 24, out-touching him 18 to 13, and exhibiting significantly superior power and explosiveness.
