Claimed off waivers two Tuesdays ago, Baker Mayfield didn’t even practice with L.A. before replacing John Wolford (neck) following an opening-drive three-and-out last Thursday night against the Raiders. Mayfield missed several early-game throws but engineered two TDs over the final three-plus minutes, including a 99-yard final-drive march to victory. Mayfield has now had 11 days to get in needed reps in Sean McVay’s offense. Yet Los Angeles’ pass-protection and pass-receiving units remain abysmal, while Green Bay’s defensive strength is versus the pass. Mayfield isn’t even a recommended two-QB-league start. The Packers’ D/ST is a green-light play. … Playing from behind for most of Week 14, the Rams used a full-on three-man RBBC against Las Vegas. Cam Akers led the way in snaps (41%), but Kyren Williams (30%) and Malcolm Brown (28%) both saw meaningful work. … Since Darrell Henderson’s release, Akers has carry counts of 8, 17, and 12 with three TDs. But Akers has zero pass-game role, having caught four balls all year. Projected game script suggests passing-down specialist Williams could grab the lead here.
